I was so excited when I was selected to play basketball for my country. We were to fly to USA, and, as I drove to the airport, I kept thinking how luck seemed to be going so much my way theste days. The sun was blazing down- just the right sort of day for flying, or so I thought.
I met the others members of my basketball team at the airport. There were thirteen of us on the flight. We were laughing and joking as the plane taxied down the runaway. Nobody took much notice of the safety video they were showing. After all, we’d seen it all before- and wasn’t flying the safest way to travel?

Intercultural Foreign Language Education. -The intercultural approach to foreign language teaching and learning is a learner-oriented approach which takes their difficulties in dealing with otherness and difference in foreign language learning seriously. It integrates the learners own sociocultural context (structures, traditions, value systems) into foreign language teaching and learning and takes their view of the world of the target language seriously (perpectives on the foreign world, stereotypes and prejudices, taboo areas) -To do so, we need to develop the concept of learning foreign languages through culture as a new FLT paradigm requiring intercultural competence. -This implies that language has a mediating role, which is how culture becomes the concern of the language teacher.
+The integration of language and culture in the classroom: -It starts from the fact that there is cultural information (facts and figures about other cultures) which can be gleaned from textbooks, videos, films, internet, newspapers, magazines, etc. -This new paradigm, the integration of communicative competence and intercultural competence, is what is known as intercultural communicative competence, whose goal is to develop the ability to: ·mantein relationships and co-operation with people from the other culture, ·communicative effectively and appropriately in the language of the other culture.
