Linear motion:Is the most basic of all motions. Linear motion is measured in two parts. Speed and direction. Together, these make up the velocity.
Reciprocating motion:Is back & forth motion. is measured by its throw and by its period
Rotary motion:Is motion in a circle
is the basic type of motion for many mechanisms
is measured in angular velocity (rpm)
Other part of measurement of rotary motion: direction of turn
torque=force(N) x distance(m)
There will not be any torque if F=0 or d=0
Oscillation: Is back & forth motion about a pivot point. Is measured in terms of both the angle of throw and the frequency
Intermitent motion: is motion which starts and stops regularly
Irregular motion:Is motion which hasn´t obvious pattern to its movement


In linear motion: Power=F x v
In rotary motion: Power=Torque x angular velocity (rpm)

W=load A= resistance arm B=Effort arm
In pulleys:FR/2n n: moveable pulley
Gear ratio=rpm1/rpm2=D2/D1=R2/R1=Z2/Z1
Poleas: N1·D1=N2·D2 --> D1/D2=N2/N1
Engranajes:N1·Z1=N2·Z2 --> Z1/Z2=N2/N1
Tren poleas:N4/N1=D1·D3/D2·D4
Tren engranajes:N4/N1=Z1·Z3/Z2·Z4
N=velocity(rpm) R= radio D=diámetro
Z=nº dientes
