Biografía:

Nació en Boston. En 1809, sus padres murieron cuando tenía 3 años, su segundo nombre es por su tutor John Allan. Luego del ejército publicó su primer libro de poemas:”Tamerlane y otros poemas”. Luego de pasar un tiempo como columnista comienza a publicar sus primeros relatos de misterio y fundamentalmente de detectives, como “the murders in the rue morge”, “you are the man“, “the stolen letter”.

Esta historia cuenta sobre el milagro de Rattleborough, un testigo que vio que todos los acontecimientos cuenta como realmente pasaron. And Mr. Shuttleworthy had a nephew called Mr. Pennifeather. So the nephew of Shuttleworthy had been accused and sent to the gallows. But the witness was no quiet with that, because Mr. Goodfellow suddenly started to made many parties. So he looked up again in the forest, where he found the death body of Mr. Shuttleworthy, he remembered the promises of that man for his friend about the wine, so he sent a letter to Mr. Goodfellow in name of the wine merchants where told him that the Mr. Shuttleworthy was bought the wine, so Mr. Goodfellow gave a party for receive the wine “in memoriam” of his death friend, when he opened the box the death bode that the witness had concealed inside jump out of the box and the witness imitated the Mr. Shuttleworthy voice saying “You are the man”, all people in Mr. Goodfellow’s house was shocked, and then Mr. Goodfellow confessed all the facts that he made, how he killed Mr. Shuttleworthy and accused Mr. Pennifether to take the money of Mr. Shuttleworthy, after that Mr. Goodfellow died in the gallows instead of Mr. Pennifether.
