Presente Continuo

El Presente Continuo se utiliza para referirnos a acciones que se están desarrollando en el mismo momento en el que se habla.

Ejemplos:

  • I am reading a book => Yo estoy leyendo un libro
  • She is studying English => Ella está estudiando inglés
  • You are always working => Estás siempre trabajando.
  • I am going to Madrid next week => Yo voy a Madrid la semana que viene.

Para realizar una pregunta en presente continuo, se coloca el verbo to be antes del sujeto. Ejemplo:

Are you studying?

Estructura: Pronombre + Verbo to be + verbo en -ing + complemento

Pasado Continuo

El Pasado Continuo habla de cosas o acciones que ocurrieron. Se cambia 'está' (presente) por 'estaba' (pasado). Lo que cambia es el verbo to be por was y were.

Ejemplo:

I was studying English

Conjugación:

  • I = Was
  • She = Was
  • He = Was
  • It = Was
  • They = Were
  • We = Were
  • You = Were

Ejemplos:

  • I was working at Vodafone = Yo estaba trabajando en Vodafone
  • I was walking down the beach = Yo estaba caminando por la playa
  • She was looking out of the window = Ella estaba mirando por la ventana
  • We were playing computer games at home
  • You were dancing sevillanas with the French girl
  • You were studying English when I phoned

Pasado Simple

El Pasado Simple se usa para hablar o describir oraciones del pasado que han finalizado.

Oraciones Afirmativas

Estructura: Sujeto + verbo en pasado + complemento

Ejemplos:

  • I Played yesterday
  • I was in the beach the last week
  • I woke up this morning at 7 o'clock
  • I bought a t-shirt yesterday
  • I heard your voice in my dreams

Oraciones Negativas

  1. I wasn't reading the book.
  2. You weren't working last night.
  3. She wasn't in Miami last August.
  4. He wasn't a good student when he was in College.
  5. We weren't dancing together.

Gustos y Preferencias

  • Like = Gustar
    • I like to Sleep
  • Love = Amar, encantar, fascinar
    • I love Chocolate
  • Prefer = Preferir
    • I Prefer sleeping on my bed
  • Enjoy = Disfrutar
    • I Enjoy watching TV
  • Hate = Odiar, detestar
    • I hate to wake up early

Verbos Modales

Can = Habilidad; Could = Habilidad

May = Posibilidades; Might = Probabilidades

  • I can speak Russian and Syrian
  • I could run very fast when I was younger
  • I may be at home at 7:00 pm
  • I might be foggy tomorrow morning
  • Would you like to walk with me?
