A Tale of Two Perspectives

Girl Meets Boy is a romantic story about a girl who falls in love with a boy she meets on a boat. The narrative unfolds from both of their perspectives, starting with the girl's side of the story.

The Girl's Story

The girl was looking at the seabirds with her sister when she suddenly saw him. He had blond hair and a blue-and-white T-shirt. He looked a bit shy. The boy was with some friends, and the girl noticed another boy who looked just like him—it was his brother. He wasn't shy at all. He and the other friends were making a lot of noise, but the shy boy was quiet. Suddenly, he looked at her. Their eyes met, and he smiled. The girl was very happy and wished they would meet again.

Later that evening, the girl went to the disco, waiting for him. After a while, he came into the room with a friend. The boy was looking for her. He walked across the dance floor and asked her to dance. They danced for a long time, and then suddenly, the shy boy appeared in the doorway. His expression was timid, and in that moment, she knew: she was dancing with the wrong guy. It was a case of mistaken identity. The shy boy ran out, and she didn't see him again that night. She felt sad and regretful.

The next day, she got up and ate breakfast at eight in the morning. He wasn't at the café. She wanted so much to see him.

The Boy's Story

Mark had started Spanish at school, and his teacher always took some pupils to visit Spain for the first two weeks of the summer vacation. Mark was very shy. He and some friends were watching the seabirds and talking when he saw a girl. She was lovely. Being shy, he didn't talk to her.

He wanted to see her again, perhaps in the café or the cinema, but he couldn't find her. He saw a movie but couldn't remember it afterward. Then, he went to the disco and saw the lovely girl dancing with Dave, his brother. He was heartbroken. He walked around the ship, thinking about the girl.

Conclusion

The book ends in the town where the ship stops. The two storylines converge, but I won't tell you any more. You'll have to read the book to find out how it ends.

Overall, I think this book was an okay love story. It was neat to see how two people can experience the same situation so differently.
