Presente Simple
Reglas de la tercera persona
- Si el verbo termina en s, ss, sh, ch, x, añadir "es".
- Si el verbo termina en "o", añadir "es" (Ejemplo: I go to the beach -> He goes).
- Verbos que acaban en "y" precedida de consonante: se cambia la "y" por "ies" (Ejemplo: I try -> He tries).
Nota: En las formas negativa e interrogativa no se añade la "s".
- Negativas: I do not work / He does not play.
- Interrogativa: Do I work? / Does he play?
Presente Continuo (Verbos terminados en -ing)
- Afirmativa: I am working / You are working / She is working.
- Negativa: I am not playing / You are not playing / We are not playing.
- Interrogativa: Am I working? / Are you working? / Is he working?
Si no llevan el pronombre personal delante, se estructura así:
- Afirmativa: Patrick is watching TV now.
- Interrogativa: Is Carmen sleeping now?
Verbos con duplicación de consonante
En estos verbos se doblan las letras finales:
- Swim: Swimming
- Sit: Sitting
- Cut: Cutting
- Get: Getting
- Stop: Stopping
