Dear Sir,
I am writing for further information in response to your advertisement, which appeared in yesterday’s newspaper.
I am ----- years old and I work in -----------. I am interested in attending a summer course to improve my language skills in English.
Firstly, I would appreciate details of the courses (or classes), the student numbers and ages. I would appreciate studying in a class appropriate to my own age.
Your advertisement mentions the possibility of practising sports. I would like to know more details of your sports program. My interests include tennis and football. It is important for me to know if the school offers either of these.
I also have some queries regarding costs. In particular, I would like to know the price of a two-week summer course from 1st August to 15th August.
Finally, if it is possible, I would like to see the school.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr P. Marsden,
I am writing with reference to a writing set I ordered by post, with which I am not happy at all.
To begin with, it arrived two weeks later than it was supposed to. I was going to give it to a friend as his birthday present but, since it got here so late, I couldn’t. This alone could be acceptable if it weren’t because, in addition, the supposedly ‘attractive’ pen and pencil are actually rather ugly and do not match (I got a green pencil and a red pen!). And worst of all, you misspelt the name printed on the side!
Therefore, because of the reasons above and making use of my rights, I am asking for a full refund of my money.
I am sure you will understand my situation, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Xxxxx

Dear Sir,
I understand from my colleague, Professor William Jones, who visited your Loughton plant last month, that you sometimes allow groups of students to tour the factory and see for themselves how Japanese production techniques operate in a European environment. Professor Jones himself was most impressed by his own visit, and recommended that I write to you.
Would it be possible for a group of 20 Business Studies students - male and female, aged between 18 and 22 - from Whitcomb Polytechnic to visit you before the end of this term, which is on the 21 December? I realise that you must receive many requests for such visits, and that the time available may already be booked up. If it is not, and you are able to see us, I should be most grateful if you could suggest a date and let me know of any normal conditions you lay down for visits of this kind.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
