- What did Gronke do at the Sway's trailer home and what was the result of this? He put a box against the door and later it exploded.
Chapter 13
- What did Trumann and Foltrigg want the judge to do and what might be a result of this? They would tell the judge that Mark is obstructing justice and the judge will question him.
- What information did the crime reporters learn from Mark? That he was making them go to the juvenile detention centre.
Chapter 14
- Why was Reggie pleased to hear that Judge Roosevelt signed the order? Because the judge was her friend and he was a fair judge.
- What will happen to Mark if he refuses to answer the judge’s questions? He will be sent back to the detention centre for contempt of court.
Chapter 15
- What things did the judge tell Reggie that surprised her? Trumann just told me that the Sways can enter the federal witness protection programme. This is the first time I’ve heard anything about this.
- What reason did Mark give the judge for refusing to answer his questions? He said he couldn't answer because someone might hurt him and his family.
- List all the things the Sway family would get in the witness protection programme. "We'll move the family anywhere they want to go," said Trumann. "We'll give them new names with new birth certificates, credit cards, driver's licences and bank accounts. We'll get them a house, put the boys in a good school, and provide money until we find a good job for Mrs. Sway. And of course our agents will be there to make sure they're ok. Once Mrs. Sway agrees and decides where to move, everything can be ready in a few days."
Chapter 16
- What did Mark want Doreen to think and why? He wanted her to think he was sick.
- What objections did Dianne have about the federal witness protection programme? That someday someone from the mafia could recognize Mark and hurt him.
- What did the FBI agents want Sam Dole to do and why? The agents immediately contacted their boss and told him what Muldanno was planning. A few minutes later, FBI agents and the police in New Orleans began searching for Pirini and those in Memphis were alerted about his possible arrival. After getting the news, Trumann looked at the clock. It was late, but he decided to visit Reggie. He wanted to tell her the bad news in person.
Chapter 17
- What shocking news did Reggie tell Dianne and Mark and how did she reassure them? That he was on the front page of the papers and they told everything about the court. That there were FBI agents everywhere.
- What was the judge’s reaction when Mark refused to answer the question about the body? The judge said, "Then you're in contempt of court again, Mark. I'm ordering you to stay in the detention centre this weekend. Go with the bailiff now and wait for your mother and Reggie in the waiting room."
Chapter 18
- Why did Reggie decide to use Clint’s car? Reggie quickly decided not to go for Mark in her own car. The police and the FBI would be looking for it the moment Mark was reported missing.
- What would it mean if Romey hadn't told Mark the truth about the location of the body? "If the body's there, I don't want the FBI to know about it until my mum, Ricky and I are on a plane to Phoenix. If the body's not there, I can tell the truth without going into the witness protection programme because the mafia won't care," Mark explained.
Chapter 19
- What did Trumann do after talking with Dianne? After talking to Dianne, Trumann got permission from the hospital to tap the phone in Ricky’s room. An FBI agent was assigned to listen to the phone calls to and from Ricky’s room.

- List the main events that happened after the rock broke the window. The alarm began to ring. Reggie turned off the flashlight. The owner of the house appeared with a gun. Every neighbor came out.
- What exactly did Mark and Reggie discover in the garage? Surrounded by pieces of broken concrete, there was a black plastic garbage bag. Using his tools, Mark made a small hole in the bag. As he made the hole bigger, he and Reggie saw the decomposing face of Senator Boyette.
Chapter 21
- Why did Mark begin to cry and how did Reggie react? He cried about everything that had happened in the past week. Reggie put her arms around him.
- What conditions did Reggie insist on before telling Trumann where the body was? These are the conditions: I want you to organize a private plane to fly Dianne and Ricky there to get Mark and then to continue on to Phoenix. I want the FBI to organize Ricky’s treatment there and pay all the costs. Reggie presented several more demands, including a monthly salary for three years so that Dianne wouldn't have to work until the boys were older. Trumann agreed to everything. He knew he had no choice.
- In your opinion, how did Mark and Reggie feel at the end and why do you think this? They were very happy because they finally achieved their goals and secured their safety.
