Describing a Holiday in Sevilla and Sharing Opinions on the Economic Crisis and Terrorism: English Writing Practice
Describing a Place Where You Have Been on Holiday
Last October I was in Seville. I stayed there for four days, and it was a very nice place.
Day 1: La Giralda
On the first day, I visited La Giralda. When you go up, you can see all of Seville. There are beautiful views. When I was at the top of La Giralda, I enjoyed it a lot.
Day 2: The Guadalquivir River
On the second day, we went for a walk near the River Guadalquivir. It is a very big river, and it is one of the cleanest rivers I have ever seen.
Day 3: Triana
On the third day, we were in Triana. It is said to be a very beautiful neighbourhood, but I didn't like it that much. It was a quiet neighbourhood, but people said that they used to spend all day dancing.
Day 4: Returning Home
On the last day, we returned to Talavera.
What Is Your Opinion About the Economic Situation?
I think that our economic situation is very bad. The number of people in Spain who don't have a job has increased. There are a lot of unemployed people. Many countries in the EU had a bad economic situation, but their economies have improved now. This is not the case in Spain. In Spain, the economic situation gets worse every month.
However, I think that our crisis will disappear in the next few years. Countries in the EU must help us to get out of this crisis. Spain has helped them many times, and now they have to help us. Also, Spanish people with a high standard of living must help other people who have a worse economic situation, but this is very difficult to carry out.
How Does Terrorism Affect Our Lives?
Terrorism is a political matter. People try to become more important, and through violence, they want to win. But with terrorism nobody wins; everyone loses. Terrorism is a stupid way of getting what you want. Through terrorism, a lot of people die, people who should not die. Often, the people who die are innocent. Because of war, many countries have people without homes and without food.
I think there are better ways to get what you want. For example, through dialogue, people can understand each other. If you want to get something, you must not kill people; you must try to get it in other ways.
