Día de Asturias en Covadonga y Día de la Madre en España: Celebraciones, Tradiciones y Vocabulario
Pedro Páramo
The last 8th de septiembre, while I was walking with my friends in Covadonga, we were spectators of the celebration of a festival that was happening in this place and it was close to where we were staying. We were walking to the place when we saw many people gathered in the square of the cathedral. We went to see what happened, then we heard music and a procession came out of the cathedral. Everyone was dressed up in traditional costumes. As soon as we saw this, we started to smile with joy. It was the day of Asturias, and it was a holiday in the area. By the time the party was over, we went to take a taxi, but they were all busy, so we had to walk home at night. In the end, we came home very tired and late, and we went to sleep. The day had been very fun.
Mother's Day
Mother's Day has been recognized in special ways for thousands of years. It is celebrated in over 40 countries around the world! The exact date and the way this event is celebrated, however, varies from country to country. Mother's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May in Spain. As elsewhere, this day is observed in every country to honor all mothers. Shops all over Spain do business selling chocolates, flowers, greeting cards and many other presents for Mother's Day, which are very popular with children, although many of them prefer to handcraft gifts because it is cheaper than a present from a shop and they are also made with more affection.
