Write about 100 to 150 words on the following topic: Discuss the advantages and disadvantages you find in homeworking.
When considering the option of working from home, I can find both advantages and disadvantages. Not having to commute to your workplace each morning is a definite advantage, because you can save money on transport and avoid the stress of the rush hour. Another advantage is being able to eat at home, which is both cheaper and healthier.
However, I would say there are more drawbacks than advantages, because having to organize your own time means that you need two essential qualities that not everybody has: self-discipline and good organization.
On the other hand, if you work at home, there is the possibility of having more contact with the family, even though this could also mean more distractions and taking more breaks than necessary. Working from home also involves working alone. For this reason, I would prefer to suffer the stress of the rush hour but have the support and companionship of colleagues.
Have You Ever Had a Job? Describe Your Experience
Write about 100 to 150 words on the following topic: Have you ever had a job? Describe your experience.
When I was sixteen, I worked as a counsellor at a children's camp during the summer holidays. I worked with children from nine to fourteen years old. I had to organize activities and generally supervise the kids.
The activities that were organized were mainly sporting activities, such as baseball, volleyball and water sports, including swimming and water polo. I also supervised some creative activities, such as dramatic performances played by the children and art work. It was hard work but also a lot of fun, and it was the first time I had ever taken responsibility for a job. At first I found this difficult, but by the end of the summer I had come to enjoy it.
All in all, it was a positive experience. I met a lot of people and made new friends, with whom I still keep in touch.
Should the State Promote or Forbid Certain Kinds of Food?
Write about 100 to 150 words on the following topic: Do you think that the State should promote or forbid some kinds of food?
I think that the State cannot forbid certain kinds of food, but it does have the responsibility to educate and inform the general public so as to help them acquire healthier eating habits. For example, I believe it is necessary for the government to promote daily intake of fruit and vegetables in our diets, advise against the abuse of fast food and encourage more traditional home cooking.
In the long run, the state would save money as the population became healthier. In this way, public expenditure on illnesses caused by unbalanced diets and junk food could be reduced.
It would be impossible for any government to forbid the consumption of certain types of food. This would be an infringement of individual rights, but obviously some control is necessary to prevent food in poor conditions from being sold in the market.
Discuss the Advantages of Being Vegetarian
Write about 100 to 150 words on the following topic: Discuss the advantages of being vegetarian.
Many people have become vegetarians after the rise of problems with certain kinds of meat, such as mad cow disease, bird flu and pollution in the sea affecting fish. There are now many vegetarian restaurants.
The main advantage of this type of diet is that fruit and vegetables provide our body with vitamins and minerals; most of them are eaten fresh, many raw.
Nevertheless, this type of diet does not provide us with all the necessary nutrients, such as proteins. Another disadvantage is that when you are invited to eat with friends, your options are very limited.
In conclusion, in our present society there are probably more drawbacks than advantages to being a vegetarian. Perhaps the healthiest option is somewhere in between.
