1. Personal Essays: Things I Couldn't Live Without

Firstly, I couldn't imagine living without my family. They are incredible. My father is very nice to me and he lets me go out with my friends at night. My mother is very nice to me and to my friends. My sister and I get along very well and we play on the console together. My grandmother is very kind; she gives me money every time I visit her.

Another thing I couldn't imagine living without is my mobile phone. It was given to me for my birthday two years ago, and I carry it with me all the time. It's a really good way to keep in touch with my friends. My parents like it too because they can always find out where I am.

The third thing I couldn't imagine living without is my bike. I'm really into road bikes. I go cycling most weekends during the spring and summer. I also use my bike when I go out in the evening. It's better than the bus because it doesn't cost anything!

2. Informal Letter: Summer Holidays and Plans

Dear David,

How are you? I hope you're well. I'm sorry I haven't written for ages, but I've been very busy. We had exams in June, and then there were lots of end-of-term parties at the beginning of July. They were great fun.

School finished last week and the summer holidays have just started. Tomorrow, I'm going to Ireland with my family. We're going to stay at a campsite near the sea. Dad said we could go windsurfing and snorkelling there.

When we get home, I'm going to work in a fast-food restaurant for a couple of weeks. My mum said she'd lend me some money for the holiday.

Next term, I'll be in Year 12. I'm going to study five subjects: maths, chemistry, biology, physics and English. Anyway, that's all for now. Write soon!

Love,
Antonio

3. Conditional Essay: What Would You Do With €150,000?

If I had €150,000 and I couldn't spend it on myself, I know exactly what I'd do. First of all, I'd buy a new car for my dad. I would buy a car for my mum, but she can't drive. I'd buy a Suzuki for my dad because he likes 4x4s.

Next, I'd buy a computer for me, with a huge flat screen, a webcam and a fast broadband connection, so that I could download songs, films and games from the internet.

The third thing I'd do is throw a party with my friends every weekend, and an incredible party for my birthday with 100 people.

Finally, to help animals in my city, I'd donate some money to an animal charity that helps dogs and cats who live on the street.
