Valence electrons: electrons in the highest occupy energy level of an elements atom.

Electron Dot: diagrams that show valence elec.

The OCTET RULE: informing compounds, atoms had to achieve the electron configuration of a Noble Gas.

$ Atoms of the metallic compounds elements tend to lose their valence electrons, leaving a complete octet in the next - lowest energy level. Atoms of some non-metallic tend to gain electrons, or to share electrons with another non- metallic element to achieve a complete octet.

Formation of Cations: an atoms loss of valence electrons produces a cation or a positively charge ion.

Pseudo - noble gas electron configuaration: some ions formed by transition metals do not have Noble Gas electron configuration. They are exception of the Octet Rule.

Formation of Anions: in anion is an atom or a group of atoms with negative charge. The gain of electrons by a neutral atom produces an anion.
