Introducción a la Barrera del Arrecife de Belice

El Arrecife Coralino de Belice es la segunda mayor masa de coral vivo en el mundo, después de la Gran Barrera de Coral de Australia. Tiene una extensión de 185 millas a lo largo de la Península de Yucatán, que abarca la mayor parte de la costa del país centroamericano de Belice. El sistema de reservas incluye, además del propio arrecife, a unos 450 islotes y tres atolones de coral, arrecifes en forma de anillo que encierran lagunas pintorescas.
