Des del segle XVIII existien les societats fraternals, que eren les primeres organitzacions obreres. També hi havia les unions o associacions de treballadors i els clubs de reforma política i de tendència democràtica.

Al Regne Unit, el primer ministre Pitt va promoure les Combination Laws (1799-1800), que van prohibir qualsevol associació amb finalitat laboral.

El luddisme va sorgir com a rebuig violent per part dels treballadors de la indústria tèxtil a les noves màquines que amenaçaven els seus llocs de treball.   • Talking about actions happening at the moment of speaking.

Present Perfect Simple

• Uses:
  • Actions that started in the past and continue in the present.
  • Past events that have an effect in the present.
  • Describing past experiences without specifying when they occurred.
