UNIT 7: CONDITIONALS

FIRST CONDITIONAL

If/Unless + presente simple + futuro con will

• Futuro simple: If you go to the match, you'll enjoy it.
• May/might (puede) + forma base: If the weather is bad, the game may/might be called off.
• Presente simple: If you boil water, it evaporates.
• Imperativo: Come with us if you want to play football.

SECOND CONDITIONAL

[Algo es poco probable]

If/Unless + past simple + conditional simple

• Would: If you were a sports reporter, you would go (forma base) to football matches.
• Could/might: Peter could/might become a professional player if he trained harder.

THIRD CONDITIONAL

[Sucedió en el pasado, por tanto imposible]

If + pretérito pluscuamperfecto + condicional compuesto

• Would + have + participio: If I had studied journalism,

Tiempos perfectos en inglés

Present perfect simple (yo he comido) para acciones pasadas que continúan en el futuro.

Estructura: SUJETO + HAVE/HAS + 3ª columna (participio pasado)

Ejemplo: yo he jugado al tenis: I have played tennis.

Present perfect continuo

(yo he estado comiendo) para hablar de acciones largas que empezaron en el pasado y continúan en el presente.

Estructura: SUJETO + HAVE/HAS + BEEN + V-ING

Ejemplo: tú has estado bebiendo agua: You have been drinking water.

Past perfect simple

(yo había comido) para indicar que una acción ocurrió antes que otra, ambas en el pasado.

Estructura: SUJETO + HAD + 3ª columna (participio pasado)

Pronombres y Oraciones de Relativo

• That: sustituye a which y who.
• Who: se utiliza para personas.
• Which: se utiliza para cosas u objetos.
• When: indica tiempo.
• Where: indica lugares.
• Whose: indica posesión ("cuyo/a/os/as"). Nunca se omite.

Reglas de omisión:

• En las oraciones non-defining (explicativas, entre comas) nunca se omiten los pronombres relativos.
• En las oraciones defining (especificativas, sin comas) sí se pueden omitir (who, which, that) siempre que funcionen como objeto (no como sujeto del verbo siguiente).
